This week… ’Llyn Ogwen’ – the lake that nestles in the Ogwen Valley shadowed by the peak of Pen yr Ole Wen directly to the north and bounded by the Tryfan and the Glyderau range to the south and west.
What’s in a name – Llyn Nadroedd
This week…’Llyn Nadroedd’ – this is a small llyn (lake) tucked away in Cwm Clogwyn to the west of Yr Wyddfa’s summit (copa’r Wyddfa).
What’s in a name – Cwm Brwynog
This week…’Cwm Brwynog’ – cwm is used for ‘steep valley/corrie/cirque’ etc, maybe from Breton (komm) for ‘trough’ or Irish (comm) for ‘dish’ and ‘brwynog’ to mean ‘belonging to the rushes’.
What’s in a name – Bwlch y Moch
This week…’Bwlch y Moch’ – this is the ‘pass’ (bwlch) you reach upon walking along the Pyg Track on Snowdon.
