Embark on a thrilling 6-day north African adventure, journeying from Marrakech to Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains, towering at 4,167m. While it may be in close proximity to Europe, Toubkal offers a unique trekking experience and challenge unlike any other mountain we're familiar with.
Our diverse itinerary ensures the best chance of summiting this iconic 4,000m peak, while also providing a taste of Morocco's captivating country and rich culture within a compact timeframe. The journey commences in Marrakech, a fascinating and lively capital, before we transfer to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
From the village of Imlil, we meet our mule team and begin a gradual ascent to the high refuge, our mountain abode. En route, we pass through ancient villages dominated by magnificent Kasbahs, warmly welcomed by hospitable Berbers offering refreshing drinks and showcasing beautiful crystals found in the mountains. Frequent stops allow us to marvel at the breathtaking high mountain scenery, navigating rocky paths and, depending on the season, snow-covered terrain, until we reach the summit, where the Atlas range stretches before our eyes. The profound silence and the grandeur of the High Atlas leave an indelible mark on our souls.
The ascent can be undertaken throughout the year, with the option of summer or winter climbs. Climbing between November and late March presents a more extreme and thrilling challenge, possibly requiring crampons and ice axes for the summit ascent.
