RAW Adventures are very proud to be recognised as an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Expedition section of any young person’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme (DofE). These programmes are provided by the charity, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, to develop skills for work and life and enable any young person to achieve their potential, gain confidence and prepare for a positive future.
Being an AAP allows us to deliver all elements of training and assessment for Bronze, Silver and Gold levels for the Expedition section of a DofE Award. This includes offering support and guidance in the completion of notification paperwork, provision of training, practice and qualifying expeditions and assessors, facilitation of the presentation and completion of reports and feedback.
At RAW Adventures, we are passionate and dedicated to providing the best possible training and support for the young people we work with. This relates to our shared backgrounds in the achievement of an award as well as experience of teaching in schools.
We aim to form a solid foundation for participants to progress successfully through their Expedition section of a DofE Award and to then draw on these new skills learned, throughout their life. We will only use highly skilled and qualified staff, with relevant DofE and youth work experience. They will also hold valid First Aid qualifications and current DBS clearance.
Our DofE Training modules draw on our wide personal experience of moving through the UK mountains as well as closely following the nine elements of the DofE Expedition Training Framework to ensure consistency of input and outcomes by which we can measure effort and achievement.
We have interpreted the Expedition Training Framework in a practical, logical way, building upon participants learning and experience as appropriate.
We are based in North Wales and can provide excellent training packages to suit your time available. Training sessions can be incorporated into practice expeditions also, to maximise time and input from our staff as well as minimise time away from home and school for participants. We can also deliver 2 day training modules across weekends at your location, for example.
More information about DofE can be found on their website, www.dofe.org.
For agreed minimum numbers/costs, we will run a training event on a date of your choice. Please contact us for more information.
