After 3 very happy years operating from our office base at Caban Cyf, Brynrefail, it was time to increase our kit storage capacity and work space. Jenny was increasingly battling with boxes to reach her desk and Kate couldn’t fit in at all sometimes?! Last seen in Caffi Caban with laptop and coffee…
On the other hand, Nonny either remained completely oblivious or created ways to utilise said boxes.
We were well looked after at Caban Cyf and many thanks to the Directors, Caffi Caban staff and other businesses for making this location a fantastic working hub. We won’t be far away to pop back for almond shortbread and Tapas Tuesday!
And onto pastures new: just the other side of the beautiful Llyn Padarn. We have moved the sum total of 1 mile to an excellent location on the shores of Llyn Padarn, only 5 minutes walk from Llanberis High Street. When the cloud level lets us, we can view the summit of Yr Wyddfa from outside the office, and we can top up our well-being in jug-fulls by a short walk to the llyn and beyond. Just perfect.
After a busy week of re-directing kit and equipment to storage, packing up boxes of filing, books and computers and meeting deadlines and taking bookings for 2019… we arrived in a heap of ‘stuff’ at the door of our new RAW Adventures home. You can now find our office at the top of the stairs, in the fantastic venue of Snowdonia Watersports, where Chris Thorne and team have made us super welcome.
Our move has been a really easy transition – diolch yn fawr pawb! And thank you too, to Jason Rawles who helped us shift multiple van runs of kit and equipment to storage, on his birthday too!
Snowdonia Watersports is a hub of water activites and more, right on the water’s edge at Llyn Padarn. Managed by Chris and Tanya Thorne, with support from friendly and experienced staff from a wide range of backgrounds, Snowdonia Watersports offers a spectrum of activities: from guided and training sessions in outdoor swimming, paddle boarding to coasteering, gorge scrambling, canoeing and kayaking.
We have already created opportunities for our client groups to enjoy some watery experiences next year, so do let us know if anything takes your fancy…and we’ll help to make it happen!
So now we’re ‘in’. Settling into a new space, STILL unpacking boxes and working out where things will go – including our ‘trophy wall’ as Ross calls it – where he’d like to display a range of souvenirs and memories from lots of lovely people, places and events. It’s an ‘ongoing work in progress’ – as most creative ideas are with Ross!
Jenny has the best seat in the house and can command the whole office from her larger desk area, without having to wrestle with boxes each day. Dan now has working space of his own, from which to direct some excellent Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition planning, as well as throw lots of skill and support to our larger events and the intricate planning and execution that is required. Although we did struggle to find a chair to suit him initially!
Nonny is still happy in her blue chair (when Dan’s Alfie hasn’t wrestled her out of it). And Kate nabbed the desk by the window for supreme sky gazing…
And onto 2019…but not without looking back at 2018 first. We’re always ready to review what we’ve learnt, and what we can improve on – both on and off the hill.
We’re looking at our paths ahead; planning for exciting opportunities with loyal clients and friends and making new opportunities and contacts for challenging adventures, learning new skills and authentic experiences in Snowdonia. We’re diligently working on this in the background, with new dates and ideas popping up on to our websites as and when they’re realised!
Bring on 2019 – we love new adventures…
Our new office address is:
