Ross Worthington
As a child, Ross was an explorer. Searching out woods, beaches, hills and rivers, he spent many summers family camping and trekking in the UK and French Alps – now being able to pitch a tent on any terrain. Ross participated in many youth expeditions, following his own involvement with the RAF’s Air Training Corps (Air Cadets) and Duke of Edinburgh Award. He then continued as an ATC Adventure Training Instructor with Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition groups, helping others to learn and develop confidence in the UK mountains.
Holding the Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor and the International Mountain Leader qualifications, Ross is comfortable with all ability levels and group sizes and enjoys teaching new skills to others, whatever the weather or environment.
With expedition leading experience from Peru to Borneo and Tanzania to Alaska, Ross prioritises organisation and safety – with some questionable jokes thrown in for good measure! He has led adult and youth expeditions on many popular trekking routes and peaks around the world, bringing a wealth of experience to his work with others.
We always receive comments on how Ross can motivate anyone to the top of a mountain...and back down again, with immense encouragement and support.
Ross is a firm believer in making the most of opportunities, and can regularly be seen tapping up local contacts for his latest event idea.
When not working on many aspects of RAW Adventures’ activities, Ross is also an Incident Manager for Pharos Response, providing telephone support to others in unplanned for or emergency situations. He is a great ‘fixer’ and known Patagonia clothing lover.
